Dresser Mirror Makeover

My husband brought me home some treasures!
At first I was a little leary...see my hubs went to do a job at a sweet couples house...  They were elderly and the man really likes my hubs; wants to go fishing with him etc.  So since the first job he will call my hubs and see if he will come over for random help, or to chit chat.  Somehow it came up that I have a obsession love of painting furniture.  So what does the couple say?  "Hey we have a dresser in the garage that we would love to get rid of...FOR FREE!  For sure it got loaded in the truck!

The dresser turned out to be in great shape!  You know the type that are old but smell perfect and are totally clean YIPPEE for that!  Here is what it looks like:
Not the best picture; see when the hubs got home he went to lay the little munchkin down for a nap.  I went out to look at the treasures!  I couldn't wait and had to put it on the lift gate (see it is really heavy, still on the lift gate, but that is as far as I could move it, lol)  I have since finished this dresser; I will show you all the final shortly!

What also came with the pretty dresser was this set of mirrors:
This attaches to the back of the dresser.  I detached the side wings off and painted the mirror all up!  Wanna see??
Yet another bad picture in my messy garage!  Geesh, you would think I would learn!  Don't you love this green?  Fun for a pop of color on a wall!  I used a black glaze to bring out all the little details.
Aren't these little ends so cute?  Thankfully this little treasure has found a home, I would love to see what it looks like all hung up.  Do you sell your projects?  Don't you ever wonder how they look in peoples homes?

Now I need to think of a project to complete with those side wings...hmmm!  Could be a challenge!

Have a great day!

Suitcase Table and Sunshine!

Oh boy, where the heck have I been?  I can't believe I let over a week go by without a word on my blog!  I have this little problem lately....it is called gorgeous weather!!  I guess that isn't a problem per say (really knocking on my table right now..please don't let me jinks it!)

I am loving the pretty weather, I have been painting like crazy outside!  The end of the street has all different colors of spray paint on it, oops!  I think I will have to paint over it all black just so it isn't so hideous!  Thankfully I am at a dead end so only I have to look at it!

My sweet little girl graduated from kindergarten tonight..officially summer break for kiddo number 1.  The fun little store where we sell our goodies; (Rusty Glamour) is moving to a much bigger building, so we are busy picking out our spot and thinking of ways to decorate it all up.  Should be interesting to see how this all works out!  The new store is across the street from the current location, so us vendors are probably going to look pretty funny hauling our stuff across the main street in town!

So wanna see what I have completed?  Of course I wasn't the best at taking pictures!

I started out with this cute suitcase.  First I painted it off white, then changed my mind and went glossy white.    So would you have painted it at all?  It was a hard decision, I like the color, well I painted it anyhow!  At the same time I purchased a small wood side table and painted it glossy white as well.  Here is what I came up with:

What a fun little piece!  I also want to show you a couple of pieces my sis has been painting.
Here is a little vanity all painted up charcoal grey.  I loved the little detail on the bottom, so cute!
This cute little side table got a fresh coat of paint!  We are thinking it needs some kind of transfer, or numbers, or something on it (maybe we will get to it!)
This little coat rack was gone lickity split!  The ever popular avocado green, with a fun black glaze.  The lady that purchased this was tickled pink!
This buffet was one of our favorites!  Rox painted it Pistachio green and then glazed it up!  We can't wait to take this one into the booth!

See I have been busy...just not blogging busy, lol!  Thankfully I took a few pictures (there were many more projects!)

Hope you have had some time to complete projects in the sunshine as well!

Orb Basket Lamp

I am so excited and happy about this project, I had to share (even though hubs is in bed and can't hang it right now).  Thankfully you, my sweet readers, are used to my horrible pictures!

Wanna know what I made?!?
My first lamp ever!!
and it is super cute...

Here are the little goodies I built this with:
2-Metal Garden Hanging Baskets
1-Lamp Socket
1-Plug End
Lamp Cord
Cool Bulb
Decorative Chain
Small Black Zip Ties (electrical dept)
4" Black Pipe Nipple (plumbing dept)
1" Floor flange (plumbing dept)
Let's just say this project didn't go smooth exactly, and I so didn't miss my calling as an electrician!  That job takes some patience (which I have little!)  I know I have told you all before but I work in a hardware type store, so through my blunders my co-workers were amazing coaches!  Basically I had to re-do this a couple of times.  Some of us just have to learn the hard way I guess!

First I spray painted the floor flange black with some spray paint.  Remove the cocoa liner from the baskets and remove the hanging chains.  Put the floor flange under the basket and zip tie it to the basket.

Then I threaded the metal pipe nipple into the floor flange and ran my wires through and up the top.  In the above picture I used electrical tape to hold the lamp socket while I was threading the lamp cord through the chain.  I removed it now and it is staying!

When it is all wired I zip tied the other basket to the bottom.  My little hint, make sure the bulb is in before you attach the baskets together (yeah it was a tough project! LOL)  My original plan was to wrap the nipple in scrap book paper.  I did it.  Then I didn't love it.  Yep had to cut the zip ties again!  Good thing I bought a whole pack!
I love the scroll design on these baskets!

Just in case you were wondering...YES it does work!

I bought a fun bulb, but it wasn't the most cost effective!  Sometimes a girl has to splurge, ya know!  I cannot wait to see this hung.  Hopefully you were impressed that I took a few of these pictures while holding it in the air, lol!

Now I will be on the hunt for these baskets at garage sales all summer!
